RPS Royale updates
What’s new in RPS Royale
A dated list of the changes players can see, newest first. Internal work such as tests and build changes is not listed.
Version 1.1.7
Page announcements and security updates
- New and updated pages are now announced through IndexNow, a protocol that search engines such as Bing support, when a release goes live.
- Updated third-party software the site is built on to versions that fix reported security problems.
Version 1.1.6
The math of Rock Paper Scissors and group activities
- Added a page on the math of Rock Paper Scissors: the odds of a throw and of a match, and how many matches and stages a bracket needs for different numbers of players.
- Added a guide to Rock Paper Scissors activities for a class, a team call, or a game night, with setup tips for groups.
- The rules and variations page now links to the odds of longer match formats.
Version 1.1.5
Guides, help, and a clearer home page
- Added a Guides page that groups every guide and reference by topic, with the date each one was last updated.
- Added a rules and variations page, a help page with fixes for common problems, and this changelog.
- Guides and reference pages now show who wrote them, when they were published, and when they were last updated.
- The How to play page has a new Practice section about playing against bots.
- The home page now describes the game, practice mode, and the guides in plain text, and shows screenshots of a room.
- The Rock Paper Scissors tournament and strategy guides were shortened: the official rules now live on the rules page.
- Google’s advertising script now loads only on the home page and on the guide, reference, and help pages, not in game rooms, on error pages, or on the About, Contact, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Service pages. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Service say so.
Version 1.1.4
Bracket overview and series progress
- Rooms now show a bracket overview, a panel between rounds, and series progress.
- Fixed spacing around buttons and panels across the site.
- The home page arena preview is now one flat surface.
Version 1.1.3
Practice mode, invite links, and guides
- Added Practice against bots: a short game against computer-controlled opponents that are labelled "Bot".
- Added invite links and result sharing, so you can send a link that opens the room.
- Added the Rock Paper Scissors tournament guide and the strategy guide.
- The home page preview now shows a whole bracket, and tells an invited visitor that a game is waiting.
- Added motion to the choice reveal, the locked-in choice, the countdown, eliminations, and the winner’s celebration. It respects the reduced-motion setting of your device.
- The Privacy Policy now describes the aggregate daily counters the site keeps.
- Fixed a problem where a quiet two-player room could stall between rounds.
Version 1.1.2
About, Contact, and legal pages
- Added the About and Contact pages.
- Published the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service.
